The Ontario Municipal Board hearings for 1171 Queen Street, 48 Abell Street and 150 Sudbury Street have now concluded. Although there is no set date, the Board does not expect to take a long time to make its decision.

October 3rd and 4th

This week the OMB will be sitting on Tuesday the 3rd and Wednesday the 4th. The site specific cases have started and evidence is currenlty being presented on 1171 Queen West. On Tuesday, Robert Glover (the planner for 1171 Queen) will continue giving his evidence in chief which will be followed by cross examination. We are then expecting to hear from the city witnesses Elise Hug and Mark Van Elsberg in reply on Tuesday and Wednesday. Active 18 will be calling architect Dean Goodman on Wednesday in reply to discuss the design of 1171 Queen West.

Following this we will break until the week of November 6. The board will then hear evidence on remaining two site specific cases, 48 Abell Street and 150 Sudbury Street, and the hearing will conclude with legal argument.


September 20th

Cross-examination of the City's Planner - Elise Hug will continue today and is expected to take all day

John Gladki - expert witness for Active 18 in the field of Planning will commence his testimony on Thursday, Sept 21.


September 15th - No hearings scheduled today

September 11th

The first week of hearings ended on Friday afternoon with hope in the air.

The City’s lawyer (Dawn Jubb) advised the Chair - Donald Granger, that the City’s Planning Department would like to sit down with all Parties and try to negotiate a settlement this Tuesday.

That meeting will be held at City Hall between noon and 4PM on Tuesday September 12th.

THERE WILL BE NO HEARING EITHER MONDAY SEPTEMBER 11TH OR TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 12TH AS A RESULT.

Although we are optimists, we do believe that the hearing will resume, as originally scheduled on Wednesday September 13th at 9:30 AM and Thursday September 14th at 9:30.
No hearings are scheduled for Friday September 15th.

Lori Martin of the City’s Culture Division will be testifying this Wednesday, about the importance of the Queen West Triangle and environs as a creative hub.
